The Rural West Primary Care Network (PCN) is seeking to recruit two enthusiastic, highly motivated and experienced, or newly qualified,Physician Associates to clinically enhance our friendly busy network of practices.
The Network is made up of two GP Partnerships: Tadley Medical Partnership and Watership Down Health with surgeries in Kingsclere, Overton, Oakley and Tadley, Hampshire.
The Physician Associate(PA),within their scope of clinical practice, will work collaboratively with the GPs and other clinicians at all practices across the Rural West Network. As part of the wider Practice/PCN multidisciplinary teams they will deliver safe and effective general medical services and care to the PCN population of approximately 40,000 patients. They will work alongside the duty teams in both Partnerships and we are looking to expand the role to support our teams with routine care.
The post holder will act within their professional boundaries to provide care for patients from initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of their care under the supervision of a GP. The PA will show safe clinical decision-making and expert care for patients within the general practices, in consultation with the GPs, and they will work with the multi-disciplinary teams to support the delivery of policy and procedures and meet the needs of patients.
The PA will also undertake face to face, telephone and online consultations for emergency or routine problems, as determined by the Partnerships including management of patients with long-term conditions. They will participate in all treatment and preventative healthcare services in the practices as delegated and agreed by the supervising GP(s).
Applicants will need excellent interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills and preferably have experience of working in a primary care setting. Please see the Job Description and person specification for more detail.
The posts are full time (37.5 hours per week)and require travel within the Network to patient homes and the surgeries of both Partnerships, so flexibility of working and access to private transport is essential. There may be some work outside Core hours and at weekends as part of the rota, which will be reimbursed in line with PCN policy.
Please note that we are also willing to receive applications from candidates who need to undertake re-sits in January 2021 and expect a positive outcome in February 2021.
