Home Visits

These are available for people who are too ill, disabled or immobile to get to the surgery. Please telephone the surgery before 11:00 whenever possible and give the receptionist the reason for your request so that we can prioritise them.

GPs, paramedics and community nurses can visit if need be. A member of our duty team will phone you back to discuss your needs because sometimes it may be possible to deal with the issue over the phone.

We will always visit or give immediate advice to:

  • The terminally ill.
  • Those for whom travel to a surgery by car would cause a worsening in their medical condition or would cause discomfort.
  • Call 999 for medical emergencies such as chest pain, shortness of breath, suspected stroke.

In general it is not acceptable to request a visit because of lack of transport. Buses, cars, friends, family and taxis can often be used to get to the surgery.
